BOB
GILSON, CFPIM, CIRM, CMC
Bob Gilson is an
independent consultant with over 25 years of experience in IT, Materials and Supply
Chain Management, ERP/MRP/APS Implementation, Inventory Management, Warehousing
and Distribution, Purchasing, Manufacturing, Lean Manufacturing/Just-In-Time Processes.
The primary focus has been on making the systems deliver the benefits possible
and promised through subject matter expertise in these systems and function understanding
of the entirety of the business. Bob has been a leading practitioner in the MRP,
MRP II, ERP, APS, JIT, Lean Manufacturing and integrating these systems and approaches
with other crucial systems such as PDM and ABC.
Mr. Gilson has
held director and partner positions with leading consulting organizations including
The Delphi Resource, Inc., C&L, PwC and AT&T Solutions. He was a materials
manager, senior buyer, and implementation project manager with Consolidated Edison
Co.
His accomplishments
include:
Systems Implementation:
- More than 25 successful
full-life cycle MRP/ERP implementations in a variety of industries both nationally
and internationally. The majority of these implementations were in multi-division,
multi-vendor, multi-location environments.
- Implemented PDM
(Product Data Management) systems that have been critical in reducing time to
market in some cases from 30 months to 12 months with attendant huge cost reductions.
- Was project manager
on large, neutral, successful B2B internet commerce system. In this capacity developed
the white paper to fund it, business and revenue case models, developed systems
requirements, identified and selected software packages to support to support
the application, developed integration plans, and ultimately project managed the
system to the point where it was used throughout an entire industry vertical.
Inventory and other
Data Element Management Improvements:
- Developed and
implemented inventory accuracy, cycle count and physical inventory programs resulting
in 98% accuracy levels and increased customer service often in support of ERP/JIT
systems implementations to enable system success.
- Developed and
implemented production management programs that greatly improved throughput as
well as enabled APS/JIT/ERP implementation. These have often taken the form of
simple but effective input-output control systems.
JIT/Continuous
Flow:
- Developed pull
based systems where appropriate in Asian and American companies and incorporated
and integrated these with traditional planning systems where hybrid situations
(for example new product introduction or substantial engineering change conditions
existed).
Training:
- Experienced instructor
at the university level. Instructor for APICS and CSUN Certification Programs.
- Developed and
presented training programs for MRP Implementation, Inventory Accuracy, Cycle
Counting and Physical Inventory, Material Flow and Bill of Material Structure.
Bob is an APICS certified
fellow in Production and Inventory Management (CFPIM), is Certified in Integrated
resource Management (CIRM), a Certified Management Consultant (CMC) and has been
an officer in numerous APICS chapters and an instructor at California State University
and Northrup University. He received a BBA from the University of Wisconsin.
